DESCRIPTION: The Devonian period is often considered to be the "Age of Fish" due to appearance of the first ray-finned and lobe-finned bony fish, but this illustration focuses on the diversity of marine organisms such as trilobites and brachiopods, even though most of them became extinct at the end of the Devonian period.
This illustration presents an Emsian (Late Early Devonian) trilobite Erbenochile erbeni from the Timrhanrhart Formation, southern Morocco surrounded by images of Devonian brachiopods:
Manticoceras intumescens from the Upper Devonian of Morocco.
Calceola sandalina from Eifelian (Early Middle Devonian) of Germany.
Megastrophia concava from Eifelian (Early Middle Devonian) of Ohio.
Rhipidomella penelope from Eifelian (Early Middle Devonian) of Ohio.
and Palaeozygopleura reifenstuhli gastropod from the Upper Emsian (Late Early Devonian) of west-central Alaska.

The picture is based on the following study: Chatterton, Brian DE, and Stacey Gibb. "Latest Early to Early Middle Devonian Trilobites from the Erbenochile Bed, Jbel Issoumour, Southeastern Morocco." Journal of Paleontology 84.6 (2010): 1188-1205.
