DESCRIPTION: Hello! My name is Arina Shubina and I'm a 24 years old student at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry in the Department of Graphic Art. It's well-known that butterfly wings are made of very thin layers of chitin. On top of these chitin layers are thousands of tiny scales that are responsible for the magnificent colors characteristic of butterflies. As my illustration for the competition is Lepidopterology themed it shows both the wing's structure and its colorful ornaments at the same time. There the following species are depicted:
1. The Painted Jezebel - Delias Hyparete
2. The Common Yeoman - Cirrochroa Tyche
3. The Common Jay - Graphium Doson
4. The Tawny Rajah - Charaxes Bernardus Phlegontis
5. The Red Helen - Papilio Iswaroides
6. The Lemon Emigrant - Catopsilia Pomona
7. The Lime Butterfly - Citrus Swallowtail, Papilio Demodocus
8. The Great Eggfly - Hypolimnas
9. The Common Rose - Atrophaneura Jophon
This illustration can be used both in professional Lepidopterological literature and in Children's Encyclopedia.
