This illustration is for the article «The Five Main Mechanisms to Protect Psyche» for the website Russian Seven . This is one of the five drawings. It is called Projection. Projection is the psychical phenomenon. I wanted to express the complexity of human self-perception. We project the negative qualities of own self on the others people in the difficult moments of life. Here the consciousness and the subconscious are presented as the tunnel and our ego fears to enter. Because it imagines us as another, evil person.
This type of protection helps us to maintain a satisfying self-image, but it can lead also to serious mental disorders (for example, «the delusions of jealousy" or «the delusions of persecution»). Therefore our conscious mind is depicted as a man woven from electrical wires. On the one hand he is transparent, on the other hand it can be perilous.
The work is drawn in colored pencil and colored ink.
