Title:
Aechmea recurvata
Species/Element:
Aechmea recurvata
Description:
Small quite rough bromeliad, grows in various locations, such as dense and humid forests, secondary forests, on rocks in the sandbank and mixed forest. Possesses narrow, thorny leaves, usually has some juiciness, because in many places where this plant lives, there is a strong water stress. The inflorescence is small and usually does not exceed the height of the leaves, forming a pink or red crown. The flowers are pink and attract hummingbirds, while the fruits are highly sought after by birds such as the tie-black, a large disperser of the species.
