Description: The Siberian redstart is a small bird with long legs, similar to the common redstart, but the male Siberian redstart has a grayish top of the head and neck, whitish sides of the neck, forehead, sides of the head and neck, throat, back and wings are black. There is a wide white stripe on the wing. The underside of the body and tail are rufous. Lives in Mongolia, Korea, China, in Russia. Wintering places – Japan, India, Malacca. Nests are built in summer from horse hair, grass and feathers. The clutch contains 5-6 pinkish or blue eggs with red speckles. They feed on insects, on wintering – berries. This bird is included in the list of the Russian-Indian Convention for the Protection of Migratory Birds (1984), listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Khakassia.
