Descripción: Euspinolia militaris is a species of wasps of the genus Euspinolia from the subfamily Sphaeropthalminae (tribe Pseudomethocini), nicknamed the panda ant due to its unusual appearance. Endemic to South America.
Small lengths up to 8 mm.
The wasp uses black and white coloring to scare away predators. No other species of wasp in the world has such coloring.
Panda ants are poisonous. Their venom, which enters the animal's bloodstream through a sharp and long sting, can be fatal.
For humans, an insect bite is not fatal.
Panda ants are very rare. Every year, all over the world, their females lay only 2,000 eggs
Male panda ants have wings; only females are born wingless.
Male panda ants feed exclusively at night, while females search for food throughout the day.
The diet of pandas also depends on gender: males collect only nectar and plant juices, while females can feast on dead insects.
