Descripción: The Humpback Anglerfish (also known as Melanocetus johnsonii) is a well-known deep-sea creature. It has a laterally compressed body, a large head and mouth, and a long, thin spine protruding from the top of their head. It's usually dark brown or black in color. This creature is typically about 5 to 15 centimeters long and lives in the temperate and tropical ranges of all oceans at depths of about 200 to 1500 meters.

a) Humpback Anglerfish uses bioluminescence from symbiotic bacteria called Photobacterium in its esca (lure) to attract the prey. Its main prey includes small fish, squid, and crustaceans.

b) Humpback Anglerfish exhibits a form of sexual symbiosis, sometimes called parasitism. The male, much smaller than the female, attaches to her abdomen and permanently merges, transforming into sexual parasites. This extraordinary symbiosis allows the male to rely entirely on the female for food, effectively becoming a permanent appendage.
