DESCRIPTION: Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is a small but one of Europe's most beautiful birds. It dwells humid areas with access to water, near ponds, rivers, etc, where it gains its nourishment. Unfortunately, kingfisher is an endangered species due to its very high sensitivity to environmental changes.
My picture shows a representative of this species sitting on a branch with lichen focusing on its hunt. Through this work, I would like to draw attention to these extraordinary but increasingly rare birds.
The image was painted in November 2014 in Wroclaw, Poland, in the technique of watercolor and ink. The original size of the image is 18x24cm on watercolor paper 400g.
