DESCRIPTION: Anemone sylvestris (family: Ranunculaceae), also named Snowdrop anemone, is perennial herbaceous plant. It is flowering in spring or early in summer, native to dry hills, meadows and dry deciduous and sparse pine woodlands of central, western and eastern Europe, Siberia and Far East . There are single plant, flower, seed and flower after bloom in the picture. This white flowering species is wild but very decorative and also have some cultivars. Interesting feature is that flowers often do not loose petals, dry flowers are still light coloured. After flowering, peduncle becomes longer. Snowdrop anemone is a short-rhizomatous plant with mostly vertical rizome that can form spreading patches. Its pubescent seeds are spreading by the wind and it takes up to 8 years to grow up from seed to flowering plamt. It is toxic plant which could be used for medical purposes with cautious.
