DESCRIPTION: O genus Protea is a flowering plant of the family of Proteaceae, most of them originate from South Africa and Australia.

The variety of plants and flowers, including sizes, led to the call this kind of PROTEA, named after the Greek god Proteus, who changed shape.

There is a kind of PROTEA who is considered the national flower of South Africa. Used as cut flowers, ornamental foliage, can be grown outside of their place of origin, provided that in appropriate soil. The "head" of flowers is composed of inflorescence, with flowers in the center.

They prefer fresh, sunny and aerated places, in soils with good drainage, with temperatures between 7 and 27 degrees centigrade and humidity lower than 50%.
