One of the most important parts of our body is the heart. It's seen also in other animals. It pumps blood throughout our body via the circulatory system. For humans, the blood supplies our body with oxygen and nutrients, and also helps with excreting wastes in our body. The heart pulsates or beats when the atria and ventricles contract and relax to pump blood. Every person's heart beat differ and range normally from 50 to 99 beats per minute. Disturbance in emotion, exercising, fever and other medications tend to make the heart beat faster.
Humans make a gesture of holding the part of their chest, where the heart is located, when they feel awed, hurt, or as a sign of respect for other people or a hymn.
The heart is depicted as a symbol of love, emotion, and affection. The symbol has been widely used to project situations mostly in religion, pop culture, and a famous holiday called 'Valentine's day'.
