Title:
Indomalaya Ecozone

Species/Element:
1. Giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) 2. Asian tiger (Panthera tigris) 3. Javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus) 4. Chinese alligator (Alligator sinensis) 5. Indian elephant (Elephas maximus) 6. Asian black bear (Helarctos malayanus)

Description:
The illustration presents most distinctive species of animals included to one of eight Earth’s ecozones – Indomalaya. The small map features the area, which is distiguished as very rich fauna.
First and foremost I wanted to show the variety of Earth’s wildlife – my illustration presents only 6 species of thousands included to Indomalaya, which is only one of eight ecozones!
Considering A3 format, I had to reduce the number of species to 6, but I think it is enough to imagine the distinctive character of Indomalaya ecozone.
I used watercolours to paint each animal. After scanning each picture I arranged them and added text in Adobe InDesign. I decided to use not only english but also Latin (to be sure of the correct name of each species).
I had an idea to refer to XIXth century illustrations in visual composition (layout of text and pictures) and colour – very warm, resembling old pieces of paper.
