The pigeon is very common bird, which is considered the birthplace of Europe, southwest Asia and North Africa. In ancient times these birds have been tamed by man, were as a result removed the so-called homing pigeons.
In the wild pigeons nesting on coastal rocks, in mountain canyons or along steep banks of rivers, often near the bushes or farmland. Their semi-domestic descendants easily adapted to life near human habitation, as the stone buildings resemble natural habitats and food waste provide a reliable food supply at any time of the year.
In nature, pigeons usually live no more than three to five years, if breeding in the home often live to 15 years of age, and separate individuals up to 35 years.
Today there are about 200 species of pigeons with more than thirty different types of plumage colour and corrective colour.
