Polar bear (Ursus maritimus - a sea bear) - the representative of family bear, group of predatory mammals, a sort bears. The largest type of a sort. The body weight of a polar bear can reach 800 kg. It is the largest land predator. The polar bear usually adheres to pack ice, well floats, makes seasonal movements. Under optimum ice conditions polar bears can reach the North Pole. A polar bear - the skillful hunter. It very much well developed vision, sense of smell and hearing. Its main production - two numerous species of the Arctic seals: annulate seal and лахтак (sea hare). Bears usually live one by one and do not form the real social groups though during the compelled congestions between animals the hierarchical relations can be established. Separate individuals are usually adjusted amicably on the relation to each other. Only at approach of the marriage period between males there can be collisions. Cases of attack of adult males on bear cubs which, as a rule, belong to a male are also known.
