Bison bonasus is the biggest animal in Lithuania now. There are living about 180 animals today in our country. It is involved in an International and Local Red Book, because this specie of animal is in danger. Long time ago bisons were hunted for meat, fur and their horns. They live in groups, the main location is Europe. It is unique, strong and large animal that symbolizes power and endurance. For this reason it became one of the graphic element in the heraldry.
