This Illustration is part of my scientific book about gorillas, I'm currently working on for my master's degree in illustration.
One of my chapters explain the difference between the four subtypes of these primates and this illustration is the cover picture of the mountain gorilla section.
I want to explain the life and behavior of this marvelous creatures with understandable and interesting illustration and graphics for the general public.
The picture itself is showing a silverback Mountain Gorilla in a challenging pose, ready to charge the intruder and to defend his pack.
And as you can see, I chose a rough painting style only with some focus on specific areas with more details.
