Description:
Caiman yacare is a crocodile species that occurs in South America, including north Argentina, south Bolivia and west Brazil. This remarkable animal lives in the Pantanal waters, a natural habitat which is the world's largest tropical wetland area. In Brazil, the Pantanal is located mostly in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. The Jacaré-do-pantanal (in spanish: yacaré-negro) can reach up to 3 meters long, can lay aproximattely 20 to 30 eggs and its incubation period is about 70-80 days. According to the IUCN Red List this animal has the least concern status of extinction.
