Skull - Michael Karpinski
Species or element:
Human skull – anatomy
"There is something mysterious in beauty; something understated that entices us and triggers some kind of tension."
I, however, would like to highlight the existence of beauty in something ordinary that many a time is not even noticed. That beauty, in my opinion, lies in the human beings themselves, their minds and bodies.
Studying human anatomy, I am fascinated by the complexity and functionality of its elements. By putting them together, they form a wonderful machine of great aesthetic functionality. I have decided to draw the human skull as I consider it the most interesting and important element of the human skeleton. Made with a ballpoint pen on paper – a time-consuming technique – the drawing was inspired by medical books of my grandfather and Internet pictures.
