The great bustard (Otis tarda) is a bird in the bustard family, the only member of the genus Otis.
In Poland subject to strict species protection. Requires active protection [10]. The causes of extinction are:
Anthropogenic pressure (use of machinery and chemicals in agriculture, construction of transmission lines, increased human penetration of fields)
Formerly hunting and poaching, which eliminated the most valuable males [7].
However, major causes of mortality in recent centuries have been largely linked to human activity, as described below.
