The most beautifully dangerous fish

Especie:
Butterfly-cod

Descripción:
Lionfish, Dragon-Fish or even butterfly-cod, these are all names given to this beautiful and dangerous specie, that is noted for his venomous fin spines.
This fish belongs to the Scorpaenidae family, and it's a huge predator that can live up to 15 years. When they are hunting their preys they trap them and just in a matter of seconds swallow them.
One of their defence mechanisms is poison, that they segregate from their 12 to 13 dorsal spines.
They are native from the Indo-Pacific area, but can certainly be found in other areas of the world, living always near the coral Reef.
An interesting fact about this one in particular is that, was draw from a picture taken in The Vasco do Gama Aquarium, one of the greatest aquariums in Portugal with over 100 years of history.
