Iris - Daria Antonenko
Iris is the one of the most common plants in my native country Ukraine. In Ukraine iris is called the Сockerel (Petushok). In ancient times the Slavs used a flower to decorate household items. Iris takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris. I tried to depict the plant in all its glory and make a focus on the reproductive organs. I chose for the image a general view of the flower, the fruit and the gynoecium.
This is how I remember the iris in my childhood in my garden.
