Title:
Moon moth
Specie:
Argema mittrei, Eucalyptus gunnii
Description:
The illustration depicts Argema mittrei, an endangered species that can be found in the wild only in the rain forests of Madagascar. It is one of the world's largest moths. Argema mittrei, or as it is also poetically called the moon moth, is amazing. There are long tails down its wings.
Eucaliptus gunnii is a plant species the larvae can feed on after hatching. It is interesting to know that the adult moth cannot feed and only lives 4-5 days.
Stylistically, the image of eucaliptus matches the moths perfectly. I have drawn its flowers a bit enlarged on purpose.
P.S.I've been drawing till late at night and didn't have time to digitize the artwork properly. If necessary, I can send a scanned version of it later.
