Description:
I've chosen to illustrate my favourite flowering plant, Papaver rhoeas. The illustration is based on my herbarium piece, which I've created for my university botany class, that greatly inspired me to get into nature illustration. The painting shows a whole plant with the phases from bud to flower and next to the plant I painted the progress from flower to crop and finally the seeds. I thought it's important to show such details like the sepals that fall of as the flower bud is opening up and to stay as true to the nature as possible.
