Descripción:
Thaumatodracon wiedenrothi is a new rhomaleosaurid plesiosaurian from the lower jurassic found in Lyme Regis, England.
This illustration was comissioned to be part of a paper named "Thaumatodracon wiedenrothi, a morphometrically and stratigraphically intermediate new rhomaleosaurid plesiosaurian from the Lower Jurassic (Sinemurian) of Lyme Regis" written by Adam S. Smith and Ricardo Araújo.
It was entirely made using photoshop, photographs of the specimen's shattered skull and vertebrae, teeth, reference imagery of other plesiosaurus, rhomaleosaurus, whales and sharks.
I added some fish from the lower jurassic, called Dapedium, to create a more convincing setting. It is believed to have been a part of the Thaumatodracon's diet.
