Descripción: Portrait of the particular Quercus robur specimen known as the 'Rumskulla oak' or 'Kvill oak', a 1000 years old oak tree in Sweden. In the past two decades, the health of the tree has progressively deteriorated, now it is about to die. In 2019 only one branch showed signs of life. My watercolour depicts the tree in its former good condition, the unique, hollow trunk structure is shown with a healthy treetop. Barriers and the chain strap that keeps the trunk together are not represented, as the painting is meant to be an 'ideal portrait', a memento for the Rumskulla oak.
