Especie: Blue bottle fly
Descripción: Blue bottle fly (Calliphora vomitoria) is a blow fly which belongs to the family Calliphoridae. It is recognizable by it's bright metallic blue color as seen in the illustration. It is typically 10–14 millimetres long (almost twice the size of a housefly). It's body and legs are covered with black bristle-like hair. It has short, clubbed antennae. The eyes are red and the wings are transparent. The chest is bright blue and green and has spikes to protect itself from other flies. This species can be found in a lot of areas around the world, including most of Europe, Alaska, Greenland, the south of Mexico, Virginia, Hawaii, and southern Africa. Because of it's diet focusing on corpses, including humans, these flies are among the most important insect evidence in forensic science.
