Título: Axolotl development
Especie: Ambystoma mexicanum

Descripción: Ambystoma mexicanum – Axolotl is a species of amphibian in the family mole salamanders. Axolotls are also known as Mexican walking fish. Their name stems from an Aztec word meaning water dog. The species was originally found in several lakes, such as Lake Xochimilco underlying Mexico City. Axolotls possess features typical of salamander larvae, including external gills and a caudal fin extending from behind the head to the vent. Their heads are wide, and their limbs are underdeveloped and possess long, thin digits. They may exhibit a variety of colors, including brown, white and pink.
The axolotl salamander has the rare trait of retaining its larval features throughout its adult life. Axolotls never metamorphose, instead of losing their gills and crawling onto land like other salamanders,
