Descripción: "The natural world is built on symbiotic relationships. Evolution and climate change force the unrelated to become related and the related to become unrelated.

I wanted to visually represent these relationships with my piece Flower / Fruit / Fly

I began this artwork by preparing the paper with the pigment of the African Tulip. Next, the pigment extracted from the flower was reflected in the similarly hued Jackfruit in pen and ink. Finally, the Zebra Longwing butterfly in paint, pen and ink completes the piece.

Even though all three species of fruit, flower and fly enjoy a warm tropical climate, they do so independently in different parts of the world. My piece imagines and provides a space where all three can exist in a symbiotic composition agnostic to where they belong. "
