Descripción: Brown long-eared bat is a medium-sized bat, with a body length 4-5 cm, and a body mass of 6-12 g. Plecotus auritus has a broad distribution range across Eurasia: from Spain east to Japan, and south to India. It typically roosts in trees, but also in attics and old buildings. This small bat has ears that are almost as long as its body and they play a role during the foraging behavior and flight. It was shown that the morphology of the ears is defined by its the feeding strategy. P.auritus is insectivorous, feeding mainly on moths. As other bats of the family Vespertilionidae, P.auritus uses echolocation for navigation and hunting in the dark. Its feeding strategy involves a slow, hovering flight. and recent research suggest that long ears and wide tail membrane provide more lift power.
