Título: Seashells in Phaselis
Especie: Seashell
Descripción: This is an illustration of two seashells hand-picked by myself from the beach in Phaselis, which was a Greek and Roman city on the coast of ancient Lycia. Its ruins are now located in the Kemer district of Antalya Province in Turkey.
The particular patterns on these seashells may seem ordinary but nonetheless the geometry on them still fascinates the viewer. The patterns on the seashelss also display an artistic order, a not-so-shapely but a still followable design of nature.
I think it is important to see the beauty in things we consider 'ordinary' and 'accessible'. I remember the time I picked these on a summer day and I did it without too much thought. But now I can appreciate the beauty on them. Sometimes understanding beauty is all about actually 'seeing' what we are looking at.
