Description: The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel common throughout Eurasia. She is an arboreal and herbivorous rodent. The sharp curved claws and the long tail helps jumping from tree to tree, on house walls. The coat of the red squirrel varies in colour with time of year and location, but the underside of the squirrel is always white-cream in colour. Red squirrels that survive their first winter have a life expectancy of 3 years. Individuals may reach 7 years of age, and 10 in captivity. The main food is seeds of trees, also eats mushrooms, berries, herbaceous plants, insects and their larvae, eggs. Stores food for the winter, but quickly remembers their location.
