Title: A Couple of Bee-Eaters
Specie: Merops Apaister

Description: A couple of European Bee-eaters (Merops Apaister) on a branch, feeding. Popular names suggest that persimmons eat only bees or wasps. In reality, however, their impact on bee populations is small. It eats less than 1% of workers' bees in the areas where they live. The menu of these birds is much more extensive. The bird guides describe how to feed these birds as they specialize in catching insects in flight, preferably Hymenoptera. Hymenoptera is the common scientific name for bees, wasps, ants and covers over 150,000 species globally. Research has also shown that these birds select species based on their size, preferring larger insects, implicitly with higher nutritional value, especially during the period of feeding the chicks.
