Title: CETACEANS IN BLACK SEA

Description: CETACEANS IN BLACK SEA
I illustrated the three cetacean subspecies inhabiting Black sea – Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus Montagu, 1821), Common dolphin (Delphinus delphis Linnaeus, 1758), Harbor porpoise (Phocoena phocoena Linnaeus, 1758). Their populations are not well studied. Although the total ban of cetacean hunt since 1983, main threats for the species are:
– caused by human activity – accidental entanglement in fishing nets; reduction of food resources, caused by fishing and introduction of Ktenophore specie; organic compounds pollution;
– other – virus epidemic (1994); lung infections caused by nematodes.
I sketched the illustration with watercolors and digitalized it. Then I used Photoshop software and Wacom Intuos pen tablet for the main work.
