Description: Glaucidium cuculoides is a bird of owl family and babbler genus. The spotted headed babbler is a small owl, with a body length of 20-26cm. It is the largest individual among the babblers. Its face plate is not obvious and there is no ear feather cluster. The body feathers are brown, with fine white transverse spots on the head and upper and lower body feathers; The abdomen is white, with broad brown longitudinal lines around the lower abdomen and anus, and a significant white spot on the throat.
Glaucidium cuculoides mainly inhabits in broad-leaved forests, mixed forests, secondary forests and forest edge shrubs in the middle mountain area from plains and low mountains to about 2000 meters above sea level. Most of them move and forage during the day.
