Título: The Mysterious Okapi
Especie: Okapia johnstoni

Descripción: The okapi is also known as the forest giraffe, Congolese giraffe or zebra giraffe. Their bodies resemble horses and their markings are similar to zebras, but they are actually most closely related to giraffes. They are about 1.5 meters tall and only male okapi have horn-like protuberances. It's special dark tongue is long enough to reach its eyes and ears. The okapi's habitat is in the tropical rainforest in the northeast region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The importance of making visible this unseen animal is due to the official classification as 'Endangered' by the IUCN. The rate of population decline is estimated to have exceeded 50 percent over the past 24 years because of habitat loss caused by logging and human settlement (the leopard is its only natural predator).
