Description: Sequentially, from the ocean coast to open ocean, an oceanographic scientific mission is prepared to study the highly ubiquos, diverse and crucial life of marine microorganisms in the Azores region. A single drop of seawater can harbor millions of these tiny organisms. These are collected by water sampling onboard a R/V by profiling a rosette coupled with a CTD (to look at the environment structure supporting these communities). By concentrating gDNA by filtration, each sample is prepared for the bacterioplankton DNA content extraction and further identified by NGS technologies.
