Title: Deep Sea Entities - Comb Jellies

Description: Comb Jellies are transparent, like most marine animals in the ocean's aphotic zone. This zone filters no sunlight, and various creatures there have to produce bioluminescence, like the comb jellies. The first time I saw them I was stunned, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and most deep sea creatures have that effect, but the way these jellies produce light was downright mechanical. When I painted, I used neon paint, chalk, and powder; to capture their essence. There are more than 100 different species of these jellies.
In the painting, 1a and 1b are beriods, 2 is a lobed jelly, 3 is a Cydippida, and 4 is a close-up at the "comb" which is the reason why they are bioluminescent. They have thousands of fused cilia, which project them to their destination and disperse light
