Title: White-Lipped Island Pit Viper in Blue Coloration - Snake, viper

Description: The White-Lipped Island Pit Viper is a venomous snake mostly found throughout South-East Asia, but across the islands of Indonesia it is the most common source of venomous bites. Their venom rarely kills humans, but it causes necrosis of the flesh and severe bleeding both externally and internally. It hunts frogs, birds and rodents, by using its tongue to pick up scents and its pits to sense the warmth given off by its prey. They are nocturnal and prefer to avoid high daytime temperatures. They are ambush predators and unlike many arboreal snakes, they don't release their prey after getting a hold of them, instead they walk them slowly inside their mouth using their fangs. They usually have green coloration, but there are rare specimens that have bright blue or yellow scales.
