Descripción: The Marina di Chioggia pumpkin is among the most appreciated historical pumpkins in Italy.
There are informations of its cultivation as early as the 17th century.
This particular pumpkin was adapted to the marine territory of Chioggia after several crossbreed.
This pumpkin is large and flattened at the ends while its skin is hard and lumpy.
To be able to best realize this artwork I personally grew this species of pumpkin. By doing this I also was able to verify the incredible strength and resilience of this pumpkin species. The seedlings that I successfully grew were in fact not killed by any extreme event due to the climate change that hit Italy in the summer of 2023. Faced with this terrible climate crisis, I find it essential to keep track and portray the changes that are happening in nature and how the different botanical species react to these changes
