Descripción: In this work the species Sonchus oleraceus is represented, exploring the tree key differences that distinguish it from tree other Sonchus species found in Portugal: Sonchus asper, Sonchus maritimus, and Sonchus tenerrimus. These differences are most notable in glandular hairs, seeds, and leaf characteristics.
The central image showcases the mature Sonchus oleraceus, an annual or biennial herb with green stems featuring a reddish or purplish tinge. The hollow and erect stems have glandular hairs near the inflorescence. The leaves exhibit spinulose teeth and triangular lobes, with less lobed leaves appearing closer to the inflorescence.
Surrounding the main image, tree close-up drawings highlight key distinguishing features of Sonchus oleraceus: the characteristic leaves, the unique seeds, and the glandular hairs found on the plant.
