Descripción: The Serbian spruce is a tree of medium height (20-35 meters), endemic to the valley of the river Drina on the Serbian-Bosnian border. The crown is shaped like a narrow pyramid or a pillar. Needles are 8-18 mm in length and around 2 mm in width and have a dark green color with a blueish underside and are densely packed on the upturned young shoots. Cones are fusiform, 4-7 cm in length, dark brown, with round, slightly serrated scales. Lifespan varies from 200 to 300 years. Outside its native range, Serbian spruce is of major importance as an ornamental tree in large gardens, valued in northern Europe and North America.
